The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has decided to start an electric cart service at major airports to make it easier for passengers to move around. In the first stage, this service will be available at airports in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Multan. Authorities have already issued a tender to arrange these electric carts.

With this service, passengers will be able to travel easily between parking areas and terminal buildings, and also return to parking without difficulty. According to PAA’s Director Commercial Rabia Salmi, people will be able to book these carts through a mobile app. She said this step will especially help elderly passengers and make travel more comfortable.

This decision was made after a high-level meeting held on April 22 under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, which focused on improving airport facilities and passenger convenience.

In the meeting, officials also approved the installation of modern screening machines to improve security checks. They agreed to set up joint counters and introduce a single-point checking system to reduce delays. The progress of installing e-gates was also reviewed.

Mohsin Naqvi said that using a single scanner system will save time and reduce long queues. He added that better coordination between departments is important to manage crowds and improve the overall airport experience.
