Pakistan, Saudi Arabia reaffirm commitment to educational, cultural cooperation: Wajiha

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Jul, 2026) Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, Dr. Wajiha Qamar,on Tuesday said that education remained one of the strongest instruments for building tolerant, inclusive, and progressive societies.

She emphasized that educational institutions have a critical responsibility to cultivate values of compassion, critical thinking, mutual respect, and responsible global citizenship among future generations. Minister said these remarks while attending the prestigious ceremony held at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), where an Honorary Doctorate was conferred upon His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa,

Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), in recognition of his outstanding global contributions to interfaith harmony, moderation, peaceful coexistence, and the promotion of the true values of islam.

The ceremony was attended by Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, senior government officials, diplomats, academics, and distinguished guests.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Wajiha paid rich tribute to Dr. Al-Issa’s remarkable leadership in promoting dialogue, mutual respect, and understanding among diverse faiths and cultures. She said his unwavering commitment to education, justice, moderation, and human dignity has earned him worldwide respect and established him as one of the most influential voices advocating peace and coexistence in the contemporary Muslim world.

The Minister stated that the conferment of the honorary doctorate by NUML reflected Pakistan’s recognition of distinguished global leaders who have rendered exceptional services to humanity through knowledge, dialogue, and peaceful engagement.

She further noted that Pakistan deeply valued its historic and brotherly relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which continued to expand across education, culture, human resource development, and broader strategic cooperation. She expressed confidence that the longstanding partnership between the two countries would continue to flourish through greater academic collaboration and people-to-people exchanges.

Congratulating Dr. Al-Issa on receiving the honorary doctorate, the Minister said that the recognition was a tribute not only to his distinguished personal achievements but also to his lifelong dedication to strengthening unity within the Muslim Ummah and promoting dialogue among nations and civilizations.

Earlier, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa expressed his gratitude to NUML for the honour, describing it as both a privilege and a greater responsibility. He also praised Pakistan’s leadership for its constructive role in promoting regional peace and reaffirmed the Muslim World League’s commitment to advancing moderation, interfaith harmony, and international cooperation.

The ceremony concluded with renewed commitment from participants to further strengthen educational cooperation, intercultural dialogue, and collective efforts towards building peaceful, inclusive, and resilient societies.
