UNITED NATIONS, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) As the world grapples with multiple interconnected crises, Pakistan Wednesday told an event at the United Nations that dialogue and diplomacy remain the most effective tools to bridge differences.
Addressing a high-level UN event for the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN, emphasized that such an inter-cultural engagement is essential for navigating interconnected global crises.
"It is the spirit of dialogue that enabled human civilization to forge mutual respect and trust and chart a path of shared progress and development," he said.
The event was organized by the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations.
The United Nations, which was established in the aftermath of World War II, was cognizant of and responsive to the interlinkage between international peace, and dialogue among civilizations, the Pakistani envoy said.
"Particularly at this critical juncture of history when global peace and harmony is imperiled by myriad challenges, significance of inter-civilizational dialogue cannot be overemphasized," Ambassador Asim Ahmad said.
