UNITED NATIONS, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) Pakistan's UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad has paid high tributes to the valiant Armed Forces of Pakistan for their courage, professionalism and exemplary defence of the motherland against India's unprovoked aggression last May, in a massage marking the first anniversary of 'Marka-e-Haq'.
"We salute their discipline, preparedness and sacrifice, and honour the unity and resilience of the people of Pakistan, who stood together with confidence and unshakeable resolve," he said.
Th Ambassador said: "Marka-e-Haq was a defining moment of national strength and strategic clarity. It reaffirmed that Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national dignity are sacred and inviolable. It also made clear that aggression cannot be disguised as a 'new normal', nor can false narratives be allowed to manufacture legitimacy for coercion or conflict in South Asia.
"Pakistan has always desired peace, but peace cannot rest on denial, violation of international law and unilateralism.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Durable stability in South Asia requires the peaceful settlement of disputes, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
"Pakistan will continue to promote dialogue, diplomacy, cooperation and peaceful coexistence, guided by the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter. This commitment was also reflected in the Pakistan led unanimously adopted Security Council Resolution 2788 on strengthening mechanisms for the peaceful settlement of disputes in July 2025.
"As we commemorate Marka-e-Haq, we do so with pride in our Armed Forces, faith in our people, and confidence in Pakistan’s principled diplomacy.
Pakistan stands for peace with justice, restraint with readiness, and dialogue with dignity. Our message remains clear: we will pursue peace with sincerity, and defend our sovereignty with resolve."
