PAF officer's murder accused sent to jail on 14-day judicial remand

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Jul, 2026) An anti-terrorism court on Monday sent an accused arrested in the killing of Pakistan Air Force (PAF)'s Group Captain Asim Tariq to jail on a 14-day judicial remand for an identification parade.

Anti-Terrorism Court Judge, Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain passed the order after police produced suspect Saad Abbasi before the court under tight security.

Prosecutor Raja Naveed and the investigating officer were also present during the proceedings.

According to police, a case has been registered against the suspect at Margalla Police Station under provisions of Pakistan's anti-terrorism law in connection with the fatal shooting of Group Captain Asim Tariq.

Investigators requested the court to send the suspect for an identification parade, a request the court accepted. The judge directed prison authorities to conduct the identification parade in accordance with legal procedures and submit a report upon its completion.

The court adjourned further proceedings until July 20 and ordered that the suspect be produced again at the next hearing.
