Overpricing not tolerated, AC Ghazi warns profiteers after surprise inspection

GHAZI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) Assistant Commissioner (AC) Junaid Aftab conducted a surprise inspection of butchers’ shops in Ghazi Bazaar and took action against profiteers for overpricing meat and violating official rate lists.

During the inspection, the AC checked the availability of government-issued price lists, cleanliness arrangements, and implementation of officially notified meat prices. Several shops were found to be involved in overcharging customers, prompting immediate legal action.

The violators were strictly warned to comply with government rates. He made it clear that profiteering and exploitation of citizens, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, would not be tolerated, and strict legal action would be taken against violators.

Junaid Aftab directed all butchers to prominently display official price lists and ensure meat is sold according to prescribed rates, warning that failure to comply would result in strict action. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to providing relief to the public and ensuring the availability of essential commodities at fair prices.

Later, the AC also visited the Price Monitoring Desk in Ghazi, where he checked staff attendance and inspected the complaints register to ensure effective price control measures.
