Over 700 candidates appear in pre-entry test for MPhil, PhD admissions at Sindh University

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Jul, 2026) More than 700 candidates appeared in the pre-entry test conducted by the University of Sindh on Sunday for admissions to various MPhil and PhD programmes offered under the Spring 2026 academic session.

According to the university spokesperson, 530 candidates took the test for admission to 38 MPhil programmes, while 183 candidates appeared for 33 PhD programmes. The 100-minute test commenced at 10:15 am and concluded at 11:55 am.

The examination process was reviewed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the main campus, Prof Dr Abdul Sattar Shah, who visited the examination centres along with Registrar Sajid Qayyum Memon.

He was also accompanied by Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Thatta Campus Prof Dr Misbah Bibi Qureshi, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Dadu Campus Prof Dr Aneela Naz Soomro, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Dr Nanak Ram, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law Dr Syed Sardar Ali Shah, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and business Administration Dr Javed Chandio, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences Dr Naheed Kaka, Dr Farhat Noreen, Controller of Examinations Muhammad Mashooq Siddiqui, Dr Ayaz Keerio, Dr Shahnawaz Chandio, Dr Muhammad Younis Laghari, Dr Rafiq Ahmed Lashari, Dr Khalid Lashari and other senior officials.

Members of the university syndicate, Prof Dr Irfana Mallah, Dr Muhammad Aqeel Bhutto and Prof Umeed Ali Rind also inspected the examination process and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made for the candidates.

Director of the Testing Centre Dr Aftab Chandio, said the test was conducted in a peaceful, transparent and well-organised environment. He added that all necessary arrangements were made to facilitate the candidates and ensure merit and that the results would be announced later the same day.

Speaking after inspecting the examination centres, Prof Dr Abdul Sattar Shah said the University of Sindh remained committed to conducting its admissions process with complete transparency, fairness and strict adherence to merit.

He said the Alma Mater was dedicated to promoting quality higher education and research by providing equal opportunities to talented students.

He added that a conducive and peaceful examination environment had been ensured so that candidates could demonstrate their academic potential without any inconvenience.
