Over 40 zaireen fall ill due to 'food poisoning'

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Mar, 2026) More than 40 zaireen (pilgrims) fell ill after allegedly consuming contaminated 'kheer' near Kot Sarwar Shaheed shrine on Shujaabad Road.

According to Rescue officials, the affected zaireen, who were traveling from Faisalabad in a bus, started experiencing severe abdominal pain and vomiting shortly after eating food.

Upon receiving an emergency call, the Rescue 1122 control room dispatched nearby teams to the site. Four ambulances reached promptly and initiated relief operations.

Rescue personnel provided first aid on the spot and shifted 31 patients to Nishtar-II Hospital and DHQ Hospital Muzaffargarh Road for further treatment, while remaining victims were being transported in phases.

The rescue operation was ongoing till the filing of this report.
