KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) On the directives of Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi, operations are ongoing in all districts against buses, minibuses, and special coaches for overcharging passengers.
All Deputy Commissioners have submitted their reports to the Commissioner Karachi saying that Assistant Commissioners, in collaboration with the Regional Transport Authority and Traffic Police, are taking action against overcharging by public transport operators, says a spokesperson on Thursday.
During last three days, action has been taken against 229 buses, coaches, and minibuses in total have been checked while 25 vehicles were seized in three days. During the operations, fines totaling Rs 1,3 lakh 75,000 were imposed.
According to report , Rs 26, thousand 500 was refunded to the passengers who were over charged.
According to details, action was taken against 41 buses in District South, 35 in District Korangi, 41 in District East, 15 in District West, 39 in District Central, 27 in District Keamari, and 31 buses in District Malir.
Various Deputy Commissioners also took action against public transport operating without permits in Karachi.
According to the report submitted by DC Masood Bhutto in District Korangi, permits of buses and vans and driving licenses of drivers were checked. Six buses, four vans, and six rickshaws operating without permits and without driving licenses were seized. The vehicles were handed over to the police.
