ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, MNA Convenor, Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR) World Day Against Child Labour said "I reaffirm our unwavering commitment to protecting every child in Pakistan from exploitation and ensuring their fundamental rights to education, dignity, safety, and a secure future".

In her message received here on Thursday regarding World Child Labour Day on June 12, she said that Child labour remains one of the most pressing challenges confronting our society. It deprives children of their childhood, denies them access to education, and exposes them to physical, psychological, and social harm. Beyond individual suffering, it perpetuates cycles of poverty and inequality that hinder national progress and development.

She said the elimination of child labour requires a comprehensive and sustained approach that goes beyond awareness. It demands strong political will, effective enforcement of existing laws, strengthened child protection systems, expanded access to quality education, and enhanced social safety nets for vulnerable families.

Addressing the root causes of child labour, including poverty, school exclusion, and lack of economic opportunities, is essential for achieving lasting change.

The Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights remains fully committed to advancing this agenda through legislative reforms, policy advocacy, and parliamentary oversight. We continue to work closely with relevant stakeholders to strengthen child protection frameworks and ensure that children’s rights remain at the center of national priorities.

On this important day, "I call upon all stakeholders, including government institutions, civil society, development partners, the private sector, media, communities, and families, to join hands in eliminating child labour in all its forms. Protecting children is not only a legal obligation but also a moral responsibility that defines the character of our society", she added.
