Naqvi reviews Islamabad Safe City upgradation; chairs special meeting

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th May, 2026) Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi on Monday visited the Islamabad Safe City Headquarters and chaired a special high-level meeting to review progress on the project to transform Islamabad Safe City into a Capital Smart City–level advanced security system.

During the visit, the minister inspected the ongoing renovation and upgradation work at the Safe City Headquarters. Officials briefed him on the establishment of a state-of-the-art Fusion Center and a modern Control Room.

Mohsin Naqvi directed that the control room be upgraded in line with modern requirements and advanced technology. He also instructed authorities to ensure the timely completion of Safe City Phase-II.

The minister emphasized that all relevant agencies will be integrated onto a single platform under the Safe City system.

“This project will serve as a significant milestone in providing a safer and more peaceful environment to the citizens of Islamabad,” he remarked.

During the briefing, officials said that the Safe City project is being rapidly executed. All necessary equipment has been provided and installation work is underway. The digital system is expected to become operational by 30 May.

The meeting was attended by Interior Secretary Khurram Agha, Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Dr Usman Anwar, Inspector General Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi, Director General Safe City Haroon Joiya, and other senior officials.
