NA achieves Rs 5b historic savings through joint efforts of treasury, opposition: Speaker

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jun, 2026) National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Saturday said that a record saving of Rs5 billion in the National Assembly budget was achieved through the full cooperation of both government and opposition members of parliament, as well as the staff of the Assembly Secretariat.

During the National Assembly session, the Speaker thanked the finance minister and briefed the House about this major achievement.

He said the target could not have been achieved without the support and contribution of the members.

He added that both government and opposition lawmakers played a constructive and important role in the savings effort, while the dedicated work of the National Assembly staff was also equally significant.

The Speaker appreciated all stakeholders for their performance, and members in the House responded with desk-thumping in recognition of the “historic” achievement.
