Monsoon alerts: admin directs high alert for anti-dengue surveillance

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2026) Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Abdul Rahman Khan on Wednesday directed all government departments to remain on high alert and strictly enforce anti-dengue protocols during the monsoon season to prevent mosquito breeding.

Presiding over a meeting of the District Emergency and Response Committee (DERC) for Anti-Dengue, the additional deputy additional commissioner emphasized that stagnant rainwater from monsoon showers increases the risk of dengue larvae propagation. He warned that no negligence would be tolerated regarding dengue control measures.

The meeting, attended by officials from the Health Department, Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC), WASA, Municipal Corporation, District Council, Local Government, and education Department, reviewed hot-spot monitoring, indoor and outdoor surveillance, and public awareness campaigns.

The ADCHQ directed staff to conduct regular inspections of graveyards, parks, government and private buildings, construction sites, tire shops, junk yards, and nurseries. He instructed all field teams to ensure 100 percent presence and clear identified hotspots immediately to safeguard public health.
