MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Mar, 2026) In a bid to enhance public awareness and strengthen emergency preparedness, local authorities in Mirpur, AJK conducted a comprehensive mock exercise of state emergency services on Wednesday. The exercise, organized by Rescue 1122 Mirpur, was carried out at Government Boys Pilot High school No.1 Mirpur under directives from the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the special instructions of the Director General State Disaster Management Authority.
The main objective of the drill was to test immediate communication, inter-agency coordination, and rapid response in potential emergencies such as terrorist incidents, fires, building explosions, or major traffic accidents.
During the exercise, a sudden explosion and fire scenario was simulated in a government building. Upon notification, the Rescue Control Room immediately dispatched fire vehicles, ambulances, and rescue teams, who arrived within minutes to initiate operations.
Under the emergency evacuation plan, personnel evacuated the simulated victims using stairs and emergency exits, safely transporting the injured on stretchers.
Firefighters deployed water bowsers and foam to control the blaze while conducting thorough search-and-rescue operations inside the building, wearing protective equipment and preventing the fire from spreading. District officers, departmental representatives, and officials from sensitive agencies observed all stages of the operation, highlighting the importance of preparedness and coordinated action.
Speaking to the media, District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Mirpur Sardar Najam Saduzai emphasized that the drill aimed to identify gaps, review response times, and strengthen inter-agency cooperation. He added that Rescue 1122 Mirpur remains ready to tackle any emergency, and such practical exercises will continue to ensure efficient and timely assistance to the public. The mock exercise concluded successfully, with authorities praising the professional capabilities and coordination of all participating agencies.
