Minister reviews Phase-II of Local Roads Programme, sets July 30 deadline for 164 roads

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2026) Punjab Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth on Wednesday reviewed progress on the second phase of the Local Roads Programme and directed field formations to complete construction of 164 roads by July 30, while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Chairing a meeting at the C&W Department here, the minister reviewed work on 438 roads included in Phase-II of the programme. Secretary Communication and Works Raja Jahangir Anwar, Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, Chief Engineers and other senior officers attended the meeting, while Executive Engineers (XENs) joined via video link.

The meeting was informed that 1,134 road schemes had been completed under Phase-I of the Local Roads Programme within a record 75 days, paving the way for the launch of the second phase.

The minister assigned field formations the target of completing construction of 164 roads by July 30 and directed officers to replicate the success achieved during the first phase. He stressed that no compromise would be made on the quality of road construction and instructed officers to ensure timely completion of all assigned schemes while adhering to prescribed engineering standards.

Field officers assured the minister that they would meet the July 30 target and complete the assigned road projects within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining quality standards.
