RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2026) Provincial Minister for Communication & Works, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth, who has been assigned by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to oversee administrative affairs in Rawalpindi Division, chaired an online review meeting to assess security, administrative, and public service arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram and Youm-e-Ashur across the division.
The virtual meeting was attended by the Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Regional Police Officer (RPO), Deputy Commissioners (DCs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and senior officials of relevant departments.
The participants briefed the Minister on the measures being taken to ensure peaceful observance of Muharram and effective management of processions and religious gatherings.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth directed all concerned departments to remain fully alert and ensure comprehensive arrangements for the safety, security, and convenience of mourners.
He emphasized that all District Headquarters Hospitals (DHQs), Rural Health Centres (RHCs), and Basic Health Units (BHUs) should remain fully functional with adequate medical staff, medicines, and emergency response facilities.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The Minister directed WASA authorities to ensure the deployment of staff along procession routes and maintain proper sanitation, cleanliness, and drainage arrangements.
He further instructed that police personnel and volunteers remain present throughout procession routes to facilitate participants and maintain law and order.
Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth directed the district administrations of Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal to closely monitor the situation and respond immediately to public complaints or emergencies.
He stressed that all control rooms should remain operational round the clock, with designated focal persons from all relevant departments available to ensure effective coordination and timely response.
The Minister also directed that Safe City surveillance systems and cameras remain fully functional, ensuring continuous monitoring of procession routes and sensitive locations to strengthen security arrangements.
Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to maintaining peace and religious harmony, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth stated that all available resources would be utilized to facilitate mourners and ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram across Rawalpindi Division.
