Member (Water) directs to expedite work on Tarbela Fifth Extension project during site visit

TARBELA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th May, 2026) Member (Water) Syed Ali Akhtar Shah Monday paid a visit to Tarbela Dam to assess the progress of ongoing development work on the Tarbela Fifth Extension Project and T-4, directed officials and contractors to accelerate construction activities to ensure timely completion of the strategic hydropower projects.

During the visit, he inspected various ongoing construction activities, including work on the intake, powerhouse, culvert, and canal.

He also held meetings with representatives of the contractor and consultant firms and directed them to further accelerate the pace of work to ensure the timely completion of the project.

General Manager and Project Director (T-5) Umair Manan, General Manager Tarbela Dam Project Anwar Shah, Chief Engineer and Project Director (T-4) Abdul Kalam, Advisor (T-4, T-5) Muhammad Azam Joiya, Advisor (Projects) Hazrat Umar, and other officials accompanied the Member (Water) during the inspection.

At the conclusion of the visit, Syed Ali Akhtar Shah planted a sapling in the premises of the Tarbela Rest House and stressed upon the concerned authorities to enhance the speed of construction work and ensure completion of the project within the stipulated timeframe.
