Meeting reviews Eid-ul-Azha arrangements in Rawalpindi, Special “Suthra Punjab” Sanitation drive Planned during Eid day

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) A meeting was held in Rawalpindi to review arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha in the joint chair of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema and Member National Assembly (MNA) Tahira Aurangzeb here on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information Danyal Chaudhry, Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Maliah Sehar, the Managing Director of WASA, and senior officials from relevant departments.

During the meeting, a comprehensive review was conducted on security arrangements, sanitation, traffic management, timely disposal of animal waste, and the provision of civic facilities during Eid-ul-Azha.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema stated that ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for citizens during Eid is the top priority of the district administration.

He directed concerned departments to ensure special cleanliness arrangements in cattle markets, major roads, and residential areas, and to implement an effective strategy for the immediate disposal of sacrificial waste.

He added that waste management teams will remain fully active in the field throughout the Eid holidays to address any public inconvenience promptly.

It was informed in the meeting that under the “Suthra Punjab” vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a special cleanliness operation will be carried out during Eid-ul-Azha.

Under this initiative, special bags are being distributed among citizens for the safe collection of animal waste, which will then be handed over to Suthra Punjab teams.

The initiative aims to maintain cleanliness, prevent foul smell and pollution, and ensure a hygienic environment across the city.

Member National Assembly (MNA) Tahira Aurangzeb said that, in line with the directives of the Chief Minister, all departments are actively engaged to provide maximum facilities to the public during Eid.

She emphasized that no negligence would be tolerated in sanitation, security, or traffic management, and ensuring a pleasant environment for citizens remains a top government priority.

She also urged citizens to fully cooperate with district administration and Suthra Punjab teams in the cleanliness campaign.

The meeting also reviewed security measures in detail.

It was informed that the city would be monitored continuously through Safe City cameras and a central control room. Additional personnel will be deployed at sensitive locations, cattle markets, and Eid congregations, while a special traffic plan has been formulated to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

The meeting concluded with a resolve that all relevant departments will work in close coordination and implement effective strategies to ensure exemplary arrangements during Eid-ul-Azha so that citizens can celebrate the occasion in a peaceful and pleasant environment.
