FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) A meeting was held regarding sustainable development of the livestock sector, promotion of modern farming system, value addition and processing and increase in meat exports here on Friday.
MNA Raja Danyal Aziz chaired the meeting while PML-N leader Umar Israr Khan accompanied him.
Additional Secretary (technical) Sheikh Usman Tahir, Director General (extension) Dr. Syed Nadeem Badar, Director Livestock Dr. Haider Ali Khan were present. Doctors of the Livestock Department, dairy farms and chamber representatives were also present.
MNA Raja Danyal Aziz said that for the first time in Punjab history, the livestock department’s budget has been increased from Rs 5 billion to Rs 40 billion to develop this sector on most modern lines.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said that small livestock farmers are being provided with interest free loans and dairy milking machines in the province.
The Punjab government is taking practical steps to strengthen the economy of small farmers and focusing on the value addition and dairy products export to strengthening the country economy.
He said that the Punjab government is introducing several new schemes for the livestock sector in the new budget.
Director General Extension Dr. Nadeem Badar said that work is underway on a plan to expand the number of animals from 300,000 to 600,000 and urged the farmers to apply for all livestock schemes.
He said that more funds are being allocated for the livestock sector in Punjab as compared to the past.
