MCR Officer escapes assassination attempt, FIR Registered

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Mar, 2026) In a shocking incident in Rawalpindi, Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi MCR officer, Imran Ali, narrowly escaped an alleged assassination attempt inside his office.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered by City Police Station Rawalpindi, the incident occurred at around 2pm when Imran Ali was performing his routine official duties.

A clerk of the Municipal Corporation, identified as Abdul Basit, allegedly entered the office along with two unidentified accomplices. The suspect reportedly pointed a 30-bore pistol at the chief officer.

During a scuffle, the weapon fell to the ground. Imran Ali sustained an injury to his hand in the ensuing struggle.

The accused demanded withdrawal of his transfer orders and allegedly threatened serious consequences upon refusal.

The FIR states that the suspects also tore official files, attempted to strangle the chief officer, locked the office door from inside and subjected him to physical assault.

It is further reported that the two accompanying individuals are also associated with the Municipal Corporation.

Imran Ali termed the incident an attack on his dignity and vowed to pursue the case to ensure the accused are punished according to the law.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi have taken notice of the incident.
