MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jun, 2026) The Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has welcomed several business-friendly measures announced in the Federal budget, describing them as positive steps toward economic revival, industrial growth, and public relief.
Addressing a post-budget news conference here on Friday evenig, Acting President MCCI, Azhar Baloch, lauded the government's decision to abolish the super tax, reduce taxes on the salaried class, lower duties on raw materials used in the manufacturing of cancer medicines, and provide incentives to the construction sector. He termed these measures encouraging for both the business community and the general public.
Baloch said the abolition of the super tax would help improve the competitiveness of industries, reduce the financial burden on businesses, and encourage investment in productive sectors. He noted that high taxation had long been a concern for the industrial sector, affecting profitability and expansion plans.
The MCCI acting president also appreciated the reduction in duties on raw materials used in the production of cancer medicines, saying the move would help lower manufacturing costs and could ultimately make life-saving treatments more affordable for patients. He described the measure as a welcome step for both the pharmaceutical industry and the healthcare sector.

He expressed hope that increased disposable income would boost consumer spending and support economic activity.
He further welcomed incentives for the construction sector, emphasizing that the industry has strong linkages with dozens of allied sectors, including cement, steel, ceramics, transport, and labor markets. Thrme measures aimed at stimulating construction activity would generate employment opportunities and contribute to overall economic growth, he explained.
Baloch said the business community expected the government to continue pursuing policies that promote industrialization, exports, investment, and ease of doing business. He stressed the need for consistency in economic policies to restore investor confidence and ensure sustainable growth.
The MCCI leader expressed optimism that the budget's relief measures would help strengthen economic activity, support businesses, and provide much-needed respite to taxpayers, while urging policymakers to maintain close consultation with the private sector during the implementation phase.
