Maulana Ashraf Ali funeral prayer offered amid tears at Liaquat Bagh

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) The funeral prayer of Maulana Ashraf Ali, Mohtamim of Jamia Taleem-ul-Quran Raja Bazaar, was offered at Liaquat Bagh here on Friday, drawing a large number of participants from religious, political, and social circles, along with local residents.

Prominent figures who attended the funeral were included Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, former provincial minister Dr. Jamal Nasir, and Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak, among others.

Speakers on the occasion paid tribute to the late scholar’s religious, academic, and teaching services, highlighting his contributions to Islamic education.

The funeral prayer was led by renowned religious scholar Maulana Ziaullah Shah.

Earlier, a turban-tying ceremony was also held at Jamia Taleem-ul-Quran Raja Bazaar, where Maulana Waliullah was appointed as the new administrator.

The ceremony was attended by a number of religious scholars and respected members of the community.

Maulana Ashraf Ali was laid to rest in his ancestral village in Attock.
