Marriage registration, certificate made easy, new facility launched

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) The Punjab Government has introduced a new facility to obtain a marriage certificate. The facility has been provided at 15 e-service centers under the Punjab Information Technology board (PITB).

Citizens can get their marriage registered in a very easy, fast and secure manner without any complicated steps or additional difficulties.

The offices for obtaining a marriage certificate will remain open from 9 am to 5 pm.

Official sources said that citizens can contact through the website https://ekhidmat.punjab.gov.pk/ or helpline 1317 for more information.

Earlier, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had told the Union Council how to obtain a marriage certificate.

Every married couple is required to register their marriage in the Union Council. Furthermore, official told that documents required for a marriage certificate or Nikah Nama include copy of the identity cards of the bride and groom, copy of the identity cards of the parents of the married couple, copy of the identity cards of the witnesses of the marriage.

Either the bride or groom can go to the Union Council to register the marriage and obtain a Nikah Nama from NADRA, where the staff will verify the documents.

If the required documents are correct, the staff will enter the Nikah Nama in their system, after which the staff will provide a printout to the applicant for proofreading. If all the details are in order, the applicant will sign the proofreading printout and return it to the staff.

The Union Council staff will then issue a marriage certificate, this facility is currently available through the NADRA Pak ID mobile app in Chakwal, Nankana Sahib, Quetta and Karachi East.
