Major Crackdown on Facilitators of Drug Traffickers in Mirpurkhas Range

Mirpurkhas June 21 (APP) , (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 21st Jun, 2026) DIG Mirpurkhas Range, Captain (Retd.) Faisal Abdullah Chachar, chaired an orderly room meeting as part of an ongoing accountability campaign under a zero-tolerance policy against police officers and personnel found negligent in taking action against drug dealers, criminal elements, and their facilitators, or involved in any form of patronage. According to the spokesperson for the DIG Office, prior to launching the accountability drive, the DIG Mirpurkhas Range reviewed reports received from various sources and examined available evidence to identify alleged facilitators within the police department. Subsequently, several officers and personnel were issued show-cause notices and suspended.

To ensure transparency and impartiality, inquiries were conducted by senior officers with strong professional reputations and proven integrity. Based on the findings of these inquiries, final show-cause notices were issued, and all concerned officers and personnel were given a full opportunity to present their defense during the orderly room proceedings. In light of departmental rules and available evidence, disciplinary action was taken against multiple officials. A total of 16 personnel were dismissed from service, three were given compulsory retirement, five officers were demoted in rank, and 30 officers and personnel were awarded the penalty of forfeiture of approved service.

Additionally, annual increments of 22 officers and personnel were withheld, while six officers and personnel received censure penalties. Meanwhile, after fulfilling departmental requirements, reinstatement orders were issued for one sub-inspector, two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), five head constables, and 16 constables. Speaking on the occasion, DIG Mirpurkhas Range Captain (Retd.) Faisal Abdullah Chachar stated that drug trafficking is a serious menace to society and that indiscriminate action would continue against those involved in the illicit trade or anyone facilitating such activities at any level.

He emphasized that the accountability process within the police department would continue with complete transparency and that negligence, corruption, or any form of unlawful patronage would not be tolerated. He further stated that honest, dedicated, and professionally competent officers and personnel would continue to receive encouragement and support to ensure better and more effective policing services for the public.APP/hms
