Major action against butchers, shops sealed

KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) The district administration Sunday launched a strict action against butchers selling meat above the official rate and sealed several shops, seized and destroyed 21 kg of substandard meat, while five customers were refunded.

During the operation, several butchers were found charging prices above fixed prices without displaying the official rate list.

The administration took immediate action and refunded the excess money collected to the five affected customers.

Moreover, 21 kg of meat was seized and destroyed on the spot. Some shops were sealed for charging arbitrary rates and violating government orders, while several shopkeepers were issued fines and strict warnings.

Representatives of the Livestock Department, food Department and other concerned institutions were also present with the team of district administration.

Additional Assistant Commissioner Dilnawaz Khan clarified that it is mandatory to display the official price list in a prominent place at every shop and indiscriminate action will be taken against those who violate it.

He warned that illegal profiteering will not be tolerated under any circumstances and raids will continue in the future.

According to the district administration, providing relief to the citizens is the top priority and Price Control Magistrates will continue to monitor the markets on a daily basis to ensure strict implementation of the official rates.
