LPG crackdown: Four filling plants sealed for overcharging

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jul, 2026) On the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema, the district administration, in collaboration with OGRA, PERA, and Civil Defense, sealed four major LPG storage and filling plants for illegal price gouging and profiteering.

During the inspection, it was revealed that the targeted plants were selling an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder at exorbitant rates ranging between Rs 3,500.0 and Rs 4,500.0 against the government-fixed OGRA rate of Rs 2,848. The prompt action was taken following widespread public complaints and media reports.

The sealed facilities include Vine Gas (Pvt) Limited, MSB Pakistan (Pvt) Limited, Premier LPG (Pvt) Limited, and Ameer & Ahsan LPG (Pvt) Limited.

DC Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema reiterated that artificial price hikes and exploitation of consumers will not be tolerated, vowing that indiscriminate operations against the hoarding mafia will continue. Meanwhile, OGRA has directed the plant owners to submit purchase invoices and distribution records, warning of heavy fines or license revocation upon completion of the inquiry.

The joint operation was supervised by OGRA officers Hammad Pirzada and Danish Nisar, Senior District Enforcement Officer PERA Faheem Arshad, and Civil Defense Officer Rawalpindi Tauqeer Abbas, who inspected various plants in the suburbs of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
