- Livestock officials launch crackdown on businesses dealing in Illegal, substandard semen

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) Livestock and Dairy Development department has started tightening noose around individuals involved in the sale of substandard and unregistered semen, launching a major enforcement operation in Multan division.
Director Livestock Multan division Dr. Mahmood Ijaz Gorsi formed a special inspection team under supervision of Additional Director Breed Improvement South Dr. Tariq Anwar and Deputy Director Dr. Shehzad Ali.
At Suraj Miani area of Multan, officials inspected Arham Semen Distributor and seized 281 doses of substandard and unregistered semen. Authorities also found that the distributor was operating without registration from the Livestock Breeding Services Authority (LBSA).
Legal proceedings were initiated against the distributor for violating regulations.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ijaz Gorsi said that strict action will continue against “black sheep” in the sector who are causing irreparable damage to livestock breeding and genetic quality. He emphasized that protecting animal breeding standards is a top priority and no illegal activity in this regard will be tolerated.
Officials confirmed that further inspections across the division will continue as part of an ongoing campaign to eliminate unregistered and low-quality livestock input businesses.
