Livestock importance discussed

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2026) A special edition of Radio Pakistan Sargodha FM-101's popular program "Shaheen Sargodha" was broadcast focusing on livestock development, animal health, breeding practices, modern livestock management and services being provided to livestock farmers.

The guest of the program was Dr. Naila Maqsood, Additional Director Livestock, Sargodha.

During the discussion, Dr Naila Maqsood highlighted the role and services of the Livestock Department across different tehsils of Sargodha district. She explained that the department is actively providing veterinary care, vaccination services, breeding facilities and technical guidance to livestock farmers, while field staff continue to serve rural communities.

The discussion also covered modern breeding programs and the promotion of improved livestock breeds.

Dr Maqsood stated that modern techniques are helping increase milk and meat production and improving the productivity of livestock.

Speaking about the ongoing heatwave, she advised livestock owners to ensure a continuous supply of clean and cool drinking water, provide adequate shade during peak heat hours, offer green fodder and feed animals during cooler morning and evening hours. She emphasized that proper nutrition, hydration and management are essential for protecting animals from heat stress.
