DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2026) The All Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Subject Specialists Association (AKSSA) has demanded an immediate and transparent inquiry into the shortage of textbooks in government schools across Dera Ismail Khan, saying the issue is affecting students' education and classroom activities.

To assess the situation, an AKSSA delegation visited the District Education Offices for male and female schools and held meetings with relevant authorities.

The delegation was led by AKSSA District President Aqeel Ahmad Yousafzai and included General Secretary Dr Habibullah Khan Dotani, Vice President Muhammad Ismail Dhoki, Media Coordinator Fazal Rehman Baloch and Finance Secretary Abdul Latif Baloch.

During the meetings, education officials informed the delegation that schools' textbook demands had been forwarded to the Elementary and Secondary Education Department on time. However, the number of books received was insufficient to meet the actual demand, leaving several schools without the required textbooks despite the start of the new academic year.

AKSSA representatives said the shortage was not merely an administrative issue but a matter directly linked to students' academic future, continuity of teaching and overall educational standards. They urged upon the authorities to conduct a fair and transparent investigation to determine the reasons behind the shortfall and identify those responsible.

The association further warned that if the issue is not addressed promptly at the district level, it would formally raise the matter with the Secretary of Elementary and Secondary Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Education Officers assured the delegation that all relevant records were being compiled and that a comprehensive and impartial inquiry would be carried out. They pledged to address any shortcomings identified during the investigation on a priority basis.
