The International Conference and Expo on Life Sciences (ICELS-2026) concluded at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) after three days of scientific sessions, exhibitions and international academic engagement

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) The International Conference and Expo on Life Sciences (ICELS-2026) concluded at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) after three days of scientific sessions, exhibitions and international academic engagement.

Organized by the Faculty of Sciences in collaboration with Himalaya Hemp & Health (Pvt.) Ltd. and Evolution EduTech Pakistan, the conference involved scientists, vice chancellors, policymakers, industrialists, researchers, entrepreneurs, development organizations and students from Pakistan and abroad.

Participants discussed challenges related to climate change, biodiversity conservation, food security, public health, biotechnology, sustainable agriculture, water management and environmental sustainability.

Representing the U.S. State Department, Kevin Sessink termed the conference an important platform for strengthening global scientific cooperation and interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly for providing networking opportunities to young researchers and students.

Speaking at the concluding session, Chief Organizer and Dean Faculty of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Rahmatullah Qureshi highlighted that more than 130 research abstracts were received and published in an abstract book with an ISBN in the Himalayan Journal of Botanical Sciences.

He said that the conference served as a productive international platform for evidence-based dialogue and collaborative efforts to address global environmental and societal challenges.

Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), Prof.Dr. Mohammad Akmal, who was the chief guest at the concluding session, appreciated the scientific quality and international relevance of the conference. He emphasized the need to translate recommendations into actionable strategies, and assured that policy guidelines emerging from the conference would be considered in future funding priorities and research support initiatives.

A national expo on food and natural products was also held on the sidelines of the conference, featuring herbal medicines, climate-smart agricultural innovations, medicinal plant-based products, sustainable technologies, natural health formulations and student projects.

Based on the deliberations and discussions during various sessions, the conference also issued several policy recommendations aimed at addressing key scientific and environmental challenges.
