KP Excise foils narcotics smuggling attempt, seizes 84kg of hashish

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, in a major operation against narcotics, has recovered 84 kilograms of hashish and foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs through a vehicle in Charsadda.

The operation was carried out jointly by the Excise Bureau of Intelligence and Excise Police Station Charsadda.

According to details received from the department, the Excise Bureau of Intelligence had received credible information regarding an attempt by drug traffickers to transport a large quantity of narcotics through a vehicle.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, a joint team established a checkpoint on Ghani Khan Road towards Charsadda Interchange.

During the operation, officials intercepted and searched a suspicious vehicle bearing registration number AUZ-464 Islamabad. As a result of the search, 84,000 grams (84 kilograms) of hashish were recovered from the vehicle.

Following the recovery, a case has been registered at Excise Police Station Mardan Region for further legal proceedings, while investigations are also underway to trace other facilitators and members of the narcotics network involved in the smuggling attempt.

The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has reiterated its commitment to continuing indiscriminate operations against drug trafficking and other unlawful activities under the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and the directives of Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan.

The department further reaffirmed that all available resources will continue to be utilized to eliminate the menace of drugs from society and ensure a safer environment for the public.
