KP CM outlines 2026-27 development roadmap; unveils Rs1,000bn 'Roshan Qabail' package

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Mar, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister (CM), Muhammad Sohail Afridi, on Saturday, laid out a comprehensive vision for province’s growth during a video link meeting of Planning and Development Department.

He directed to finalize PC-1 for all schemes within the upcoming 2026-27 Annual Development Program (ADP) by June 1.

This new roadmap aims to drive all-round provincial development, with a specific focus on uplifting backward districts and prioritizing sectors that offer direct public benefits, such as education, healthcare, employment, and basic amenities.

Reviewing current financial year (2025-26), the meeting noted that 67% of released funds have already been utilized, with 218 high-priority projects slated for completion in the coming year.

While provincial government has stepped in with Rs 29.6 billion for development of merged districts, Chief Minister highlighted that Federal funds for rapid development program in those areas are still pending.

Looking ahead to next fiscal cycle, provincial government plans to strike a balance between continuity and innovation, allocating 80% of funds to ongoing projects and 20% to new initiatives.

Rs 1,000 billion "Roshan Qabail" package was set to be a cornerstone for merged districts. The ambitious agenda also features several specialized projects, including establishment of a Health City, Ehsaas Jungle Program, a Tribal Medical College, and a Tribal University.

The upcoming program further emphasizes modernization and social welfare through introduction of virtual classrooms, an Artificial Intelligence curriculum, and "bag-free" schools.

Additional highlights include Khyber Safari Train, expansion of BRT to other divisions, and completion of Safe Cities infrastructure.

To ensure inclusivity, the plan incorporates an Integrated Development Package for Upper Chitral, expansion of shelter and "Zamong Kor" networks, and dedicated self-employment and educational projects for special children and persons with disabilities.
