Police in Kohat have foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons and recovered five Kalashnikov rifles during a targeted operation in the Jarma area, officials said on Wednesday

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) Police in Kohat have foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons and recovered five Kalashnikov rifles during a targeted operation in the Jarma area, officials said on Wednesday.

Acting on directives of District Police Officer Shahbaz Elahi, a police team led by SHO Iqbal Khan established a checkpoint at Muslimabad on the highway, where a suspicious vehicle was intercepted for inspection. During a thorough search, officers discovered concealed compartments inside the car containing the illegal weapons.

According to police sources, the recovered arms were being smuggled from Darra Adam Khel to Bannu. Two suspects, identified as Sabir and Zafar, residents of Bannu, were arrested on the spot.

A case has been registered at Jarma Police Station, while further investigation is underway. Police officials reiterated their commitment to continuing indiscriminate operations against smugglers and criminal networks to ensure lasting peace and security in the region.
