BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Mar, 2026) Federal and provincial departments carried out a joint operation against the fuel mafia in the Bahawalpur region to curb illegal practices and ensure the smooth supply of petroleum products.

Official sources in the district administration said that a high-level team from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), along with officials of the relevant provincial departments, launched a crackdown following the directions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chief Minister of Punjab.

During the operation, teams conducted raids at several petrol pumps in the city and its adjoining areas that were allegedly involved in illegal mixing and hoarding of fuel.

A tanker carrying 48,000 litres of petrol was also taken into custody after it was found hidden in the district.

Sources further said that one petrol pump in the district and two petrol agencies located on Samah Satta Road were sealed. In addition, an LPG plant was sealed for selling liquefied petroleum gas at inflated rates, where LPG was reportedly being sold at Rs35 to Rs50 per kilogram higher than the official price.
