BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Mar, 2026) Vice Chancellor of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran has emphasized that strong reading habits form the cornerstone of academic excellence and intellectual growth.
He expressed these views while addressing a group of teachers and students at the university. The Vice Chancellor urged faculty members and students to dedicate regular time to reading books beyond their prescribed syllabus, noting that wider reading broadens perspectives and enhances analytical skills. Highlighting the transformative role of books in nurturing critical thinking and innovation, he stressed the need to promote reading circles and literary discussions across academic departments. He reiterated the university’s commitment to fostering a vibrant learning culture through well-equipped libraries, book clubs, and diverse academic engagements.
In a related development, students of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur participated in the 50 Books Annual Reading Competition (Term 2025) organized by Red Pakistan.
Four students including Ayesha Arshad and Ali Hamza from the Department of English Literature, Laila Rehman from the Department of education, and Rabia Kausar from the Department of Computer Science, successfully fulfilled all academic requirements of the competition.
In recognition of their achievement, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran awarded certificates to the students. The focal person of the program, Lecturer Rana Muzammil Fayyaz briefed the Vice Chancellor on the objectives of the initiative and appreciated the students’ consistent dedication throughout the competition period. Director Media and Public Relations Dr. Shahzad Ahmed Khalid, Dr. Naveen Javed, Alina Tariq Chauhan, and members of the assessment committee, were also present on the occasion.
