Infrastructure plans underway to improve travel facilities in Punjab: C&W minister

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Mar, 2026) Punjab Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth, chairing a meeting here on Wednesday, reviewed plans to link all divisional headquarters in the province with the motorway network.

The meeting was attended by Secretary C&W Sohail Ashraf, Additional Secretary, Special Secretary, Chief Engineers, and other relevant officials.

During the meeting, officials exchanged views on various aspects of connecting divisional headquarters with the motorway network. The provincial minister directed officers to commence detailed working on the project and identify locations where effective motorway links could be established.

Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth said the plan would cover divisional headquarters including Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi, and Bahawalpur, with a focus on establishing efficient and accessible links.

He further instructed that Bahawalnagar and Rajanpur districts should also be considered for motorway connections to ensure better travel facilities for residents of these areas.

The minister said that while planning the project, priority should be given to enabling citizens to access the motorway in the shortest possible time. He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government remains committed to providing high-quality travel facilities and is undertaking extensive infrastructure improvement projects across the province.
