LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2026) A meeting chaired by Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin was held to review the performance of WASA and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA). Secretary Housing Punjab Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, Director General WASA, and senior PHA officials briefed the minister on departmental performance and ongoing projects.
The meeting also reviewed proposed reforms regarding the covering of sewerage drains in major cities and measures to protect canals from toxic and contaminated water.
The provincial minister directed that immediate preparations be made for the cleaning and securing of sewerage drains in all 41 districts of Punjab. Managing Directors of WASA in all districts have been asked to submit written recommendations regarding the current condition of drains and proposals for their improvement.
The Punjab Horticulture Authority has been instructed to prepare a comprehensive plan for plantation and beautification around the drains to improve the environment and urban landscape.
Minister Bilal Yasin stated that PHA will develop a dashboard covering the operational status of 1,700 parks across the province. The dashboard will enable monitoring of the current condition of parks, working plans, and progress on ongoing projects.
He further stated that, on the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab, a real-time performance monitoring system will be introduced along with a reward and accountability mechanism to ensure improved service delivery and transparency.
