IGP reviews Eid security arrangements across province

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem on Tuesday chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office to review the overall security situation in the province and arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha.

According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, regional police officers (RPOs), city police officers (CPOs), district police officers (DPOs) and other concerned officers participated in the meeting through video link and briefed the IGP on security measures taken in their respective areas.

IGP Abdul Kareem directed officials to place security arrangements on high alert at mosques, places of worship, cattle markets, commercial centres, important installations, embassies and other sensitive locations during Eid.

He also ordered further strengthening of security for Chinese and other foreign nationals, including their residences, workplaces, consulates and movement routes.

The IGP Punjab directed police officers, Special Branch, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and other security agencies to review and further improve security protocols for foreign nationals.

He instructed RPOs, CPOs and DPOs to personally visit the field and inspect security arrangements at mosques, sensitive locations and important installations.

Abdul Kareem also ordered enhanced security at inter-provincial border checkpoints and law enforcement buildings, directing personnel deployed there to remain highly alert during duty.

He directed strict surveillance of Fitna Al-Khawarij, Fitna Al-Hindustan and other anti-state elements and ordered uninterrupted intelligence-based search, sweep and combing operations, particularly in border areas.

He further directed authorities to accelerate the ongoing deportation campaign against illegally residing Afghan nationals and other undocumented foreign nationals.

IGP Abdul Kareem said continuous monitoring of markets, business centres, places of worship and sensitive areas should be ensured through Punjab Safe Cities Authority cameras to enable immediate action against suspicious activities.

The meeting was attended through video link by Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Muhammad Kamran Khan, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs, while Additional IG Operations Punjab Muhammad Ali Nekokara and AIG Operations Zahid Nawaz Marwat were present in the meeting.
