IGP releases Rs. 3.04m medical assistance for police personnel, families

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2026) Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem on Tuesday approved the release of Rs. 3.04 million in additional financial assistance for the medical treatment of Punjab Police personnel and their family members, reaffirming the force's commitment to the welfare of its employees.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the financial assistance included Rs. 430,000 for the medical treatment of Constable Muhammad Mohsin, Rs. 300,000 for the surgery of Constable Talha Zubair, Rs. 250,000 for the treatment of Constable Tasawar Hussain's wife, and Rs. 200,000 for the heart surgery of Constable Umar Zaman.

The spokesperson said retired Plumber Muhammad Bilal received Rs. 200,000 for cancer treatment, while retired Traffic Warden Khawahish Ali Shah was granted Rs. 200,000 for heart surgery.

Inspector Rashid Mehmood, Constable Muhammad Iqbal, Lady Constable Sundas, Driver Constable Tanveer Hussain and retired Driver Constable Muhammad Feroz were each provided Rs. 100,000 for medical treatment.

He said Constable Nazakat Ali, Traffic Assistant Muhammad Bashir and Driver Constable Tariq Mehmood collectively received Rs.

340,000, while Sub-Inspector Abid Hussain, Head Constable Muhammad Sohail and EDC Operator Rab Nawaz were granted a combined Rs. 300,000 for medical treatment.

Similarly, Constable Junaid Azeem, Ghareeb Alam and Asjad Ali collectively received Rs. 225,000 in medical assistance, while Assistant Sub-Inspector Maqsood Ali and Driver Constable Abdul Hafeez were provided a combined Rs. 95,000 for treatment.

The spokesperson said the funds were approved by the IGP after scrutiny by the Medical Financial Assistance Committee.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Kareem said the welfare of police personnel and their families, who remained dedicated to protecting the lives and property of citizens, was among the department's top priorities.

He added that Punjab Police were also ensuring quality healthcare facilities for its employees and their families through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed with various healthcare institutions.
