ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) Acting on the directives of Federal Minister for Water and Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) organized an open court at Attock Cantt on Thursday, where a large number of consumers voiced concerns over electricity billing and service issues. The session was presided over by Superintending Engineer Sardar Saleem Ahmad Khan under the supervision of IESCO Chief Executive Officer Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood.
Participants raised a wide range of grievances, including fixed charges in electricity bills, hurdles in obtaining net metering, excessive and unannounced load-shedding, and the persistent low-voltage problem on the Teen Meela feeder. Senior officials, including Additional Superintending Engineer Babar Mehmood, Additional XEN Naqeebullah Kakar, and other officers from Attock Division, were also present to address public concerns.
Responding to the complaints, Sardar Saleem Ahmad Khan clarified that fixed charges were being levied strictly in accordance with regulations set by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), and any policy change was beyond the authority of IESCO officials. He further noted that the transition from net metering to net billing was a federal government decision applicable across all distribution companies.
On infrastructure issues, he assured consumers that the longstanding low-voltage problem on the Teen Meela feeder was being addressed through an ongoing development project worth Rs25 million, expected to be completed within two months. During the session, several complaints were resolved on the spot, reflecting the utility’s ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery and provide relief to consumers in line with government directives.
