ICT Police bust motorcycle snatching gang, arrest two repeat offenders

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jun, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have arrested two members of a motorcycle-snatching gang allegedly involved in multiple incidents of motorcycle snatching and robbery, recovering two stolen motorcycles and weapons during an operation in the Bani Gala police station area.

An official told APP on Monday that the arrests were made by a Bani Gala Police team during an intelligence-based operation conducted with the help of modern technology and human intelligence as part of the ongoing crackdown against motorcycle snatchers, dacoits and other street criminals in the Federal capital.

The official said police recovered two snatched motorcycles, a weapon used in the commission of the crimes and ammunition from the possession of the arrested suspects.

According to the official, the two accused were already wanted in several criminal cases and, during preliminary interrogation, confessed to their involvement in multiple incidents of motorcycle snatching and robbery.

Further investigation is underway to trace their accomplices and determine their involvement in other criminal activities, the official said.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said Islamabad Police was continuing a strict campaign against motorcycle theft, snatching and robbery, adding that these efforts had resulted in a significant decline in such crimes across the federal capital.

He directed all police officers to intensify operations against criminal elements and ensure that offenders were brought to justice.
