HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) In view of the holy month of Ramzan, Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad, announced a comprehensive plan to ensure price control, security, and maximum public relief across the division.
The Commissioner stated that district price committees in all districts of the division have finalized official rates of essential commodities. Shopkeepers are bound to display the approved price lists prominently, while large marts have been directed to exhibit rates on panaflex banners.
A total of 33 complaint desks, 68 price control magistrates, 20 Bachat Bazar will be established in the division . Additionally, 12 price monitoring teams will actively supervise markets in Hyderabad city.
He was talking to press briefing at Shehbaz Hall with media persons along with DIG Tariq Razzaq Dharejo, Deputy Commissioner Zain ul Abideen Memon and SSP Shahzeb chachar.
In a reply to a question he emphasized that the objective of these measures is to provide maximum relief to citizens. The media also has a responsibility to highlight shops and markets that fail to display official price lists. The administration will remain proactive throughout Ramzan and ensure strict implementation of policies. He added
He said in a reply of question that this year strict action will be taken against those shopkeepers who sale essential commodities on high prices than fixed by the district administration including registration of FIRs in addition to fines. He also clarified that under the Ahtram-e-Ramzan Ordinance, only specific locations such as railway stations, bus stands, and hospital cafeterias are exempted, and there is no provision for granting permission to hotels or cafés to operate during prohibited hours.
He also announced the formation of a vigilance committee to monitor the activities of Sindh Solid Waste Management board to ensure cleanliness arrangements during Ramzan. A major Bachat Bazar will be established with the support of district administration and NGOs. He informed
Talking to media persons DIG Hyderabad Tariq Razzaq Dharejo stated that a comprehensive crime control strategy has been devised, deploying police personnel across the division. Special security units will be stationed at major mosques where large congregations gather for Taravih prayers.
In a reply to a question he said that three main accused in the Sabro Pathan murder case have been arrested and their samples have alos been collected for forensic.
Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad informed to media that 12 markets have been identified for special visits by price control teams during Ramzan. He reiterated that rates have been fixed in consultation with all stakeholders, and strict compliance will be ensured. He confirmed that last year fines of Rs2.8 million were imposed and this year even stricter action will be taken against hoarders.
SSP Hyderabad stated that, alongside enhanced security measures, special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city. Security and traffic management plans have been prepared according to each Ashra of Ramzan and for the Eid days.
