Grassroots academies crucial for sports development: Mutahir Sohail

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) Renowned badminton coach Mutahir Sohail has emphasized the importance of establishing grassroots academies for the development of sports in Pakistan, saying that it is impossible to progress without them.

Talking to APP, Sohail highlighted the abundance of talent in badminton at the grassroots level and stressed the need to nurture it through academies.

"These academies will act as nurseries, playing a vital role in identifying and developing young talent," he said.

Sohail also mentioned that his academy at the Shehbaz Sharif Sports Complex in Rawalpindi is providing top-notch training to players, who have gone on to participate in national championships and international competitions.
