PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jun, 2026) Government employees and pensioners across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have welcomed the salary and pension increases announced in the Federal Budget 2026-27, describing the measures as a timely relief amid rising living costs and economic challenges.

The federal government has proposed a seven percent increase in salaries for government employees and a seven percent raise in pensions for retired civil servants.

The budget also includes a 10 percent increase in the minimum wage, a move that has been widely appreciated by workers and labour representatives.

Speaking to APP, retired government servant Misal Khan said the government deserved appreciation for extending financial relief to hundreds of thousands of serving and retired employees despite fiscal constraints.

He said that the salary and pension enhancements would help families cope with inflation and increasing household expenses.

"The government has demonstrated its commitment to supporting public servants and pensioners during difficult economic times," he said.

Misal Khan further remarked that the budget reflected a balanced approach, taking into account both economic realities and the welfare needs of citizens.

He described the budget as progressive and people-friendly, particularly in the context of prevailing inflationary pressures and the challenging regional security environment.

Employees working in the Civil Secretariat, including Sajid Khan, Omar Khan, and Zeeshan Kaiser, also expressed satisfaction over the announced pay increases. They said the raise would provide much-needed financial support to government workers struggling with the rising cost of essential commodities and services.

The employees praised the government's efforts to offer relief while maintaining fiscal discipline and hoped that further measures would be introduced to improve the welfare of public servants.

They also welcomed the government's decision to increase the minimum wage by 10 percent, saying it would benefit low-income workers and contribute to improving their standard of living.

The announcement has generated a positive response among government employees and pensioners, many of whom view the measures as an acknowledgment of their services and a step toward addressing the financial challenges faced by households across the country.
