PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday emphasized the need for political unity and dialogue to address public issues and resolve local disputes.

He said this during separate meetings with delegations from Dera Ismail Khan and Regi area at the Governor House.

A delegation of Pakistan Muslim League office-bearers and lawyers, led by Central Working Committee member and District President Rehan Malik Advocate, called on the Governor and discussed the political situation and public issues of Dera Ismail Khan.

The delegation included former president of High Court Bar Association Dera Malik Hidayatullah Malana Advocate, District General Secretary Chaudhry Riaz Advocate, Karim Nawaz Khan Babar Advocate, Amir Khan, Rizwan Khan Gandapur, Rehmat Ali Advocate, Kamran Baloch and Umair Habib Sial Advocate.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said land for Dera Ismail Khan International Airport had been acquired, while technical reports were in final stages and the project would soon be inaugurated.

He said all political parties must play a united role in resolving issues of Dera Ismail Khan, adding that despite political differences, public welfare and development of the area should remain the top priority.

Faisal Karim Kundi said there were certain issues with the federation, adding that grievances of the people of the province with the center were justified.

He further informed that facilities of Federal institutions, including NADRA and Benazir Income Support Programme, were being expanded in Dera Ismail Khan.

The delegation appreciated the Governor’s efforts and expressed gratitude for his initiatives.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Regi Islahati Committee, led by its president Shah Jahan Khan, also met the Governor. Senior member Saleem Akhtar Khan and Professor Javed Khan were part of the delegation, along with Pakistan Peoples Youth Organization KP Provincial General Secretary Ziaullah Khan Khalil and PPP Union Council Regi President Hidayatullah Khan.

The meeting discussed the prevailing situation in Regi and a land dispute between residents of Regi and Regi Badezai.

The Governor said that table talks, jirga and negotiations were the best means to resolve disputes, adding that local elders played a vital role in maintaining peace.

He appreciated the committee’s decision to opt for jirga and assured full cooperation from the Governor House in resolving the issue peacefully and amicably.

The delegation lauded the Governor’s positive approach and commitment to resolving the matter.
