Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi lauds revival of DI Khan airport, urges swift launch of flights

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday appreciated Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif for taking initiative to revive the old Dera Ismail Khan Airport

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday appreciated Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif for taking initiative to revive the old Dera Ismail Khan Airport.

The Governor said he wished that the Defence Minister would soon formally inaugurate commercial flight operations and personally land at the airport, so that the region could fully benefit from air travel facilities.

He said that the Dera Ismail Khan Greenfield International Airport project is also awaiting approval from the Pakistan Aviation Authority board.

Kundi expressed hope that the Pakistan Aviation Authority would approve the project at the earliest, paving the way for a new era of development in the region.

The old Dera Ismail Khan Airport has long been considered important for improving connectivity and boosting economic activity in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
