Governor Balochistan praises HEC’s role in advancing higher education

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jul, 2026) Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail lauded the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for its pivotal role in guiding public sector universities, supporting academic excellence, and aligning national education standards with global benchmarks.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Governor Mandokhail highlighted that despite geographical challenges and limited resources, HEC has acted as a vital bridge between vision and reality. He noted that continuous support in teaching, research, and institutional development has laid the foundation for progress in higher education across Balochistan.

Jaffar Mandokhail praised HEC Chairman Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar and his team for their dedication, saying that hundreds of PhD and MPhil scholars were now delivering quality education in provincial universities, equipping students with modern knowledge and market-driven skills. He emphasized that faculty development programs, scholarships, and research grants have played a central role in this transformation.

The Governor underscored HEC’s multi-dimensional contributions, including setting and enforcing quality assurance standards, promoting knowledge-based research, and ensuring equitable access to higher education even in remote districts.

He added that through funding, policy guidance, capacity-building initiatives, and international collaborations, HEC has enabled universities to pursue innovation, modernization, and socio-economic development.

“Today, the impact of HEC is visible in every classroom and research laboratory across the province,” Mandokhail said, pointing to improvements in faculty strength, curriculum modernization, laboratory upgrades, and digital infrastructure. He noted that over the past two years, persistent efforts, strict monitoring, and strategic planning have significantly improved the ranking and scoring of Balochistan’s public sector universities.

Governor Jaffar Mandokhail concluded that this progress reflected a shared commitment to building a knowledge economy, with HEC standing as a steadfast partner in stabilizing the higher education sector and ensuring access to quality education for all.
