Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, addressing the Gwadar Grand Jirga, emphasized that the province’s development depends on public participation in economic and social activities, tribal harmony, and continuity of government initiatives
GWADAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, addressing the Gwadar Grand Jirga, emphasized that the province’s development depends on public participation in economic and social activities, tribal harmony, and continuity of government initiatives.
He assured the people of Gwadar that their future is bright, noting that the completion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will transform Gwadar into a hub of regional trade and economic activity, said a news release.
The jirga was attended by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Corps Commander, Quetta, Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, GOC Gwadar, senior government officials, MPA Gwadar Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, tribal elders, district administration, security institutions, traders, fishermen’s representatives, and members of civil society. Discussions focused on Balochistan’s overall situation, particularly development projects in Makran Division and Gwadar.
Governor Mandokhail highlighted that all relevant institutions are actively working to ensure that the benefits of development projects reach the people, with special attention to empowering women, youth, and the fishing community.
He stressed that political dialogue within the constitutional framework is the key to resolving unrest in certain districts, and durable solutions can be achieved through consultation and continuous negotiations.
He also underlined the importance of Gwadar’s blue economy, ongoing mega projects, fisheries, and the role of Gwadar University in shaping the region’s future.
At the same time, he acknowledged the need to address local challenges promptly. “Holding jirgas at the divisional level helps capture the voice of society’s silent majority and mobilizes district administrations and government institutions,” he said.
Governor Mandokhail and Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti listened attentively to participants’ questions, provided satisfactory responses, and assured that all legitimate demands would be addressed on a priority basis.
At the conclusion, participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation among the government, security institutions, and the public to ensure peace, prosperity, and development in Balochistan. They pledged joint efforts to transform Gwadar into a peaceful, modern, and globally recognized city.
In a symbolic gesture, Governor Mandokhail, Chief Minister Bugti, and Corps Commander Quetta also inaugurated a memorial for Police Constable Muhammad Khumari Baloch, who was martyred in a terrorist attack in Gwadar on May 11, 2025.
