Girl drowns in canal, boy missing

A girl drowned in a canal while a boy remained missing after both slipped into the water while playing near the canal in Alipur

MUZAFFARGARH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) A girl drowned in a canal while a boy remained missing after both slipped into the water while playing near the canal in Alipur.

Rescuer 1122 said the body of the girl was retrieved about 20 kilometres away near Matma Wali Bridge

and handed over to her heirs.

Six-year-old Muhammad Irfan and five-year-old Hania went missing.

A report was filed with the Bahawalpur Control Room of Rescue 1122. Both children were residents of Basti Panjnad, Alipur.

After receiving the information, Rescue 1122 divers launched a search operation in water more than 15 feet wide and 60 feet deep. They succeeded in recovering the girl’s body, while the boy remains missing.

Initial reports from rescuers said the incident occurred when the children slipped into the canal while playing on its bank.
