Gilgit-Baltistan Sets June 7, 2026, as Polling Day for General Elections

GILGIT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Apr, 2026) The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has officially announced the polling day for the upcoming general elections of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.

According to a press release issued by the Public Relations Wing of the Election Commission Secretariat, the Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit-Baltistan, Raja Shahbaz Khan, has, under Section 57(1) of the Election Act 2017, formally declared Sunday, June 7, 2026, as the polling day for the general elections. The announcement has been made in accordance with Article 48(1)(a) of the Gilgit-Baltistan Order 2018.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Election Commissioner stated that the entire electoral process will be conducted in a transparent, free, fair, and impartial manner in line with constitutional and legal requirements.

The Election Commission has directed all relevant institutions to ensure necessary arrangements for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections. It has also urged the general public to actively participate in the democratic process and exercise their right to vote responsibly.
